I recently did a study portrait of my cat and liked it so much I finished it into something more graphic-y and made it into a t-shirt. I got comments about cats and amazement when I confessed it was something I created. I enjoy doing pet portraits and usually try to draw or paint at least one portrait of all our pets. I have done portraits for others as well.
So here are a few images of the animals I have painted and drawn!
“Still Young” by the Cat Empire was the song in my head this morning. Such a fun uplifting song. Sometimes an earworm is just an earworm. No reasons, no memories, no triggers. Just a song stuck in the head.
So here’s a picture I drew inspired by our cat Frazier.
Frazier the Sir, Emperor of Box.
One of the things I really enjoy capturing are candid shots of animals with their tongue stuck out. I am happy to get any goofy shot of animals but the tongue out is the pinnacle of goofy shots. I don’t often share them. I am never sure if any one finds them as enjoyable as I do.
Well today I am giving the world a big fat NAH! 😛
It has been said I like cats. Most of my affection shows with the photos I post. Mostly because of the quantity of them, but I also have been inspired artistically as well. Here is a pile of images of different cat drawings and paintings from various times and in various styles.
Here a bunch of sketches that are probably from around college times, most were doodles on scraps of paper, that are now physically lost.
Here are some more sketches, little later in time.
Here are some portraits I painted.
Here are some sketches inspired by my current cat.
Here are some inspired by Sketchfest.
Here are some just for fun.
Some of these I have for sale at my Cafepress, Redbubble and Threadless Shops.
The cat I have now is a kitten we got as a part of a pair from the local animal shelter.
We knew we wanted a pair and the two of them were so cute cuddled together we knew we had to get them. I think they woke up and started yelling at Rocky for us to adopt them when I went out front to start the process. We named them Frazier and Kitten Kaboodle Monster. I felt the grey guy would be Rocky’s buddy and the way he plays with cats I just felt a tribute to that boxing moment when Howard Cosell is yelling “Down Goes Frazier! Down Goes Frazier!” would be cute. Rocky was wanting to call the black one Monster, but I for a while now, thought Kaboodle would be a cute kitten name and this seemed the right cat. Then I thought how Kaboodle was kind of similar to Kabuki and then Monster seemed to fit as a second name, so she got them both. Cats really do pick their own people, and Frazier really did pick Rocky, and Kaboodle Monster is definitely mine.
They are now just over a year old.
My how they grow.
If I thought I could get away with it I would spam these guys constantly. They are such characters. But for now I will stick with these and a YouTube link to them playing and showing off my shiny floors with their glowing laser eyes.
I love cats. It’s because of people like me that the Internet is so inundated with cat pictures and videos. Chances are, over time, I will share many a picture or story. Here’s a little something to start with.
