One Day Left to Save the Doodles!

One Day Left! Anyone who wishes has tomorrow to post. My FaceBook Page Album, “Save the Doodles” has all the art that needs to go.  Saturday I will start going through and sending messages to anyone who pledged to save some art. I recommend going through and liking any images you didn’t pledge on, just in case they end up as packaging with the art that you did pledge for!

Some of the pieces that I think are nice that haven’t had anyone pledging to rescue are:

cephalod princess pastel-02
Cephalopod Princess, pastel drawing
grey angel-small
grey angel, graphite on grey toned paper with metallic highlights
Septembird 15 pigeon-small
Pigeon on a Ledge, coloured pencil with metallic marker highlights
green eyed owl-small
Screech Owl, micron pen illustration with metallic marker for the green eyes.
nightingale painted-sm
Nightingale, micron pen with a metallic paint wash.
Inktober 7 shy sktchy ink painting v2-small
Shy Elf, ink line drawing with a dipping ink wash and metallic highlights.
020 Juneicorn
Unicorn, graphite and white charcoal with metallic highlights on grey toned paper.
01 JuneFae
Fairy Girl, micron pen, pastels, pencil crayon, metallic markers.
Inktober 14 fierce sktchy cat ink painting-small
For the inktober prompt “Fierce”, micron pen and dipping ink wash.

There are many more that are unclaimed at the Facebook gallery, so take a look and see if there is anything you would rather own than have it tossed in the recycle bin.

Save the Doodles Event Ongoing!

The sale on pieces of paper with drawings on them is ongoing on Facebook until February 1 midnight Central time. I set up a gallery album on Facebook with all the art that is a part of this deal. I photographed each piece with rulers so the sizes would be obvious. Anyone who pledges the postage to get some art sent, gets that art, unless more than one person wants it, then it’s a bidding war and the top bidder will get the art sent to them. Anyone who pledges on art from the specifically assigned gallery has a chance to get a piece of art that was not bid on. So I recommend hitting the like button on anything that catches your fancy too, you know, just in case…

Also, I don’t expect anyone to watch the whole video, but I wanted to show some of the fancy metallic sparkly pieces off with a video because movement brings out the vibrancy that a still photo does not. I ended up showing off the whole pile though so it’s a little long. The cats make appearances too.

If you are interested in art from any other gallery, it might not be available as an original for various reasons. Some of it might be a work in progress or something I still want to play around with. Some of it is digital painting, so there is no physical original. These ones I tend to have prints for sale through Print on Demand sights such as Fine Art America/ Pixels or Redbubble or CafePress. And there are a few pieces that I just can’t give up quite yet. They hold special meaning or I was especially fond of it for some reason. Again I have many for sale as prints and other merchandise on those Print on Demand sights. Some of the line drawings are good for colouring book pages, and some of those digital files end up on my Patreon for a small subscription.

Love Love Love

I have mostly been a cynic when it comes to romance. Chick Flicks are not really my thing. Once in college, a friend and I sent out February Friday the 13th cards with a stamp out VD logo. Yet somehow I wound up happily married and have many photographs and art pieces that illustrate love. Well it’s that time of year when media and corporations inundate us with “TELL HER YOU LOVE HER on THIS DAY!” So in case you want to go along with all that, I will share some of my more romantic, lovey dovey, imagery with you 😛

Yes I participated! I got 31 plus ink drawings in 31 days. They are in various states of doneness and quality, but I think the point was to get 31 images made, to learn and to get in practice. I found many people seemed to think it was all about starting in ink and living with ink. I had it in my mind that inking was what was done to a sketch in one of the stages of comic book art. So I started the month drawing in pencil and mostly using a micron marker pen to “ink” the sketches. Most I did with pencil to start. I found that I was not happy with the few I tried solely in ink. There were a couple of exceptions. Many times I found the inking process changed the ideas laid out in pencil anyway. I was fairly ambitious to start as I was thinking of doing two projects that may have some overlap but essentially was laying out double the work for myself. I participated in the Sktchy app event and I wanted to make as many images cat images for my own personal #catober. I ended up with 40 drawings between the 2 projects, 14 of those were cats. Sktchy is a artist and muse app where people post photos and other people draw them. The administrators found images that fit with the official #inktober prompts and the artists were sent emails reminding them the theme and sharing these images. I tried doing as many as I could using these prompts, but some days it just didn’t work for me. On those days I did still try to use inspiration from the muses on the app so I could have 31 official #sktchy #inktober images. Some of my cat images came from the prompts and muses on the Sktchy app. I don’t think I got 31 #catober images but I ran out of time and energy to get them all done. I think I tried to stay with the #inktober list of word prompts for the #catober images too.  I spent the 31st playing catch-up with the drawings and November 1st with some finishing touches. I still feel many of them need so much more work. Maybe I will turn some of them into water colour paintings. Others I think I may never want to look at again! Sharing what I did get done, what ever stage it ended in at the end of the month (or the first).

catober inktober collage

I have a gallery on facebook showing each image individually and my favourites on instagram.

Oh and this extra one I missed in the collage, I drew waiting at the airport so it didn’t get in the pile with the rest of the drawings when I scanned everything, plus it was an extra one so I missed it in the count as I had the number I should have.

August Sketchfest

Took part in Ellen Million’s Sketchfest again. Always fun and inspiring. The Eclipse seemed to be a popular prompt again this month and I got 2 drawings from that, one of which I played with colouring in GIMP, plus a couple more.

Prompts were Eclipse Dragon, My Black Cat, Beautiful Beast, and Total Eclipse.Sketchfest 90 aug 2017

And Ellen featured my Beast on her blog too! thank you Ellen 🙂

Pet Portraits

I recently did a study portrait of my cat and liked it so much I finished it into something more graphic-y and made it into a t-shirt. I got comments about cats and amazement when I confessed it was something I created. I enjoy doing pet portraits and usually try to draw or paint at least one portrait of all our pets. I have done portraits for others as well.

So here are a few images of the animals I have painted and drawn!

Riding Out the Shift Storm

One of the things I really enjoy capturing are candid shots of animals with their tongue stuck out. I am happy to get any goofy shot of animals but the tongue out is the pinnacle of goofy shots. I don’t often share them. I am never sure if any one finds them as enjoyable as I do.

Well today I am giving the world a big fat NAH! 😛

I love cats. It’s because of people like me that the Internet is so inundated with cat pictures and videos. Chances are, over time, I will share many a picture or story. Here’s a little something to start with.
